Meet our Faculty: Kelsey Carlisle

Professor of Piano and Jazz Studies

Kelsey is an avid performer of classical, blues, and jazz music on piano. He has toured extensively around the US, and has been praised for his authentic, intricate, loving, and exciting interpretations of 20th century American music. He has spent countless hours studying the music of composers such as Albright, and Gershwin, and is one of the leading experts on his music in this generation.

His blues career allowed him to perform and learn alongside award-winning musicians like Bob Margolin, Victor Wainwright, and Christone Ingram. Kelsey teaches private lessons for the MDA, as well as coaching students specifically on jazz, blues, and modern American music.
