Carlene Soderberg is a cellist and devout interpreter of modern music. She has performed a variety of repertoire throughout the United States and has been praised for her “daring and innovative interpretations“. The world of modern classical music is her focus. She has premiered new music by composers such as Benjamin Cauley and Michael Mikulka. Her passion for playing and programming works by living composers extends from chamber music to solo repertoire.
Her repertoire in chamber groups spans from Prokofiev, Dvořák, and Beethoven, to Andrea Casrrubios, Caroline Shaw, Paul Wianko, and Tonya Leon, for solo works. Having played a wide variety of music, she is a champion of contemporary music and is focusing her research on cultural instruments of Eastern Europe, and of South America.
